Added Uncanny X-Men: X-Men Disassembled (2024)

In late 2018, Marvel Comics relaunched Uncanny X-Men. It was the first time a comic titled Uncanny X-Men was regularly released since 2015. Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 ran weekly for the first 10 issues for the first story arc, titled “Disassembled.” Jubilee appeared throughout, and there were also appearances by Firestar and Beak, as well as alternate reality versions of Firestar and Chamber. Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #1-10 were reprinted in the collected edition Uncanny X-Men Vol. 1: X-Men Disassembled.

Jubilee had been appearing more in the X-Men line since regaining her classic fireworks powers at the end of Generation X vol. 2. She even led a small team in the first half of Dead Man Logan.

Firestar had been sporadically appearing as part of the X-Men, most recently in the bookend one-shots for the Hunt for Wolverine mini-event, and in Iceman for a Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends reunion.

Beak was last seen regaining his mutant powers in X-Men: Blue, moving back into the Xavier Institute (also in X-Men: Blue). and attending a support group in Domino Annual #1.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #1, Jubilee appeared on 4 pages, plus an additional 1 page in a dream/vision by Jean Grey. Jubilee was paired with Bishop to monitor the crowd during a speech by Senator Ashton Allen. The senator talked about a vaccine for the x-gene he proposed giving to every teenager to prevent the possibility of any future mutants. Kitty Pryde, headmistress of the Xavier Institute for Mutant Outreach and Education, was scheduled to speak after the senator but had gone missing earlier that day while on a mission with the X-Men. Jean Grey was going to speak on her behalf, but Jamie Madrox the Multiple Man stepped forward instead. During his speech, a wave of Madrox duplicates rushed the crowd. Jubilee and the other X-Men present tried to stop them. Senator Allen was mysteriously teleported away, and then the Madrox duplicates also teleported away.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #2, Jubilee appeared on 6 pages. She was placed on Storm’s team with Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Polaris, and Cannonball to travel to Russell Springs, Kansas, where a huge crowd of Multiple Man duplicates was growing. They tried talking to them but they were soon overwhelmed. The duplicates all exhibited various mutant powers and swarmed the group.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #3, Jubilee appeared on 3 pages. Jubilee and Storm’s team was joined by Jean Grey’s team of X-Men to help fight the mob of Multiple Men. During the fight, Jubilee and Northstar were injured, and Nightcrawler teleported them off of the battlefield. They recuperated in the medical bay of one of their jets, the Dove, while the rest of the X-Men freed the original Jamie Madrox and then returned to the Xavier Institute, which was under attack by Legion.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #4, Jubilee appeared on 5 pages. A surprise arrival by the Horsem*n of Salvation (Magneto, Archangel, Omega Red and Blob) led to the destruction of the Xavier Institute. Jean Grey and Psylocke telepathically created an illusion to convince the Horsem*n that the X-Men had been defeated. They then headed to the Institute’s sub-basem*nts. Later, upon finding out that the Horsem*n began causing more problems around the world, Jubilee was placed on the same team led by Storm to help quell civil unrest in the country of Chernaya. The unrest had been worsened by Magneto and Angel. Jubilee and the X-Men tried to stop the riot that broke out between the military and citizens.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #5, Jubilee appeared on 3 pages. Jubilee and the X-Men continued to try to stop the Chernayan military and citizens from killing each other, while also trying to get through to Magneto and Angel, who seemed to be under the control of X-Man aka Nate Grey.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #6, Jubilee appeared on 11 pages. After Psylocke successfully broke Angel free of X-Man’s control, inadvertently reverting him to Archangel, the X-Men team with Jubilee was joined by Jean Grey’s team. Archangel then brought the two teams to X-Man’s base on Quadra Island in British Columbia, Canada. They were greeted by the remaining members of the Horsem*n of Salvation and eventually were greeted by X-Man. During the confrontation, Jubilee was thrown from the battle. She was found by a team of X-Men students led by Armor. Armor tried to talk to X-Man, but Legion, who was with them, threw X-Man and the students into the Age of Apocalypse reality.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #7, alternate reality versions of the remains of Firestar and Chamber were seen on 1 page each. In the Age of Apocalypse reality, Armor and Glob helped X-Man get to one of Mister Sinister’s hidden labs in Chicago. There they found the bodies of several mutants who had been experimented on by Mister Sinister, among them Firestar and Chamber. In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #8, it was revealed that X-Man and the students had been pulled into Legion’s mind. While they had experienced month inside the Age of Apocalypse reality, only about 5 minutes had actually passed. It remained unclear if the X-Men students and X-Man were truly in the actual Age of Apocalypse reality, or simply a construct telepathically created by Legion to appear to be the Age of Apocalypse reality. Since their physical bodies were missing on Earth-616 as well, it could even be that the Age of Apocalypse, or a version of it, exists within Legion’s mind.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #9, Firestar appeared on 2 pages, and Jubilee and Beak appeared on 1 page each. With X-Man taking control of Legion’s body, Jean Grey telepathically summoned all available X-Men to help. Among the X-Men seen in Jean Grey’s call for help was Firestar. Jubilee helped the other X-Men fight X-Man and his Horsem*n of Salvation, which now included the mind-controlled Storm. Jean Grey then telepathically guided Pixie to teleport as many mutants to Quadra Island for a final battle with X-Man. Firestar and Beak were among the reinforcements brought in.

In Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 #10, Firestar appeared on 2 pages and Jubilee appeared on 1 page. Firestar and Jubilee helped fight X-Man and his Horsem*n of Salvation. Jean Grey and a group of telepaths were able to split Legion from X-Man, and break X-Man’s hold over the Horsem*n. Jean tried to get through to him but X-Man seemingly used up the last of his powers to kill all those present. While Beak was not seen in the issue, his appearance at the end of the previous issue suggested that he was present as well.

While parts of the Dead Man Logan: Sins of the Father was released after these issues, since Jubilee and the rest of the X-Men are thought dead at the end of this story and head right into the Age of X event, so it works best to have this 10-part story occur first. These issue were added to the Phase Fifteen of Limbo Part 5.
